Bridge Day Camp 2017

Bridge Day Camp 2017

Learning to play bridge is more than fun and games.  Bridge helps students develop problem-solving skills as well as social skills.  Studies have shown that students who play bridge practice math and reasoning skills, and perform better on standardized tests than those who do not.

Additionally, because players work in a partnership, students learn to value teamwork.  Playing bridge may also help to improve memory later in life.

Seattle Bridge Day Camp 2017 is sponsored by Bridge for Youth, a non-profit organization, with assistant from Seattle Bridge Unit 446. The beginner level program will run July 10th through July 14th, from 9:30 to 3:30.  The advanced level program will run July 17th through July 21st, on Saturday July 22nd we will be having a camp tournament and potluck, open to all campers and their parents (or other relatives).  More details on that to follow.

The camp will be located on Mercer Island, in the lower level of the Island Congregational Church, 4545 Island Crest Way, Mercer Island, WA 98040.

The camp will cost $125 per 5-day session, all instruction and materials included. The second week or additional participant will cost $100.

Campers should plan to bring a sack lunch each day as there are no facilities at the camp from which to purchase food.  Refreshments will be available to campers throughout the day.

Although the camp is a casual environment, campers should dress appropriately and must wear shoes or sandals at all times.

No electronic devices (cell phones, etc.) are allowed in the classroom.  Please advise your student of this rule.  Devices found will be removed and returned to the parent following class.  Emergency messages can be texted to 425-615-1413.

Parents–  If your camper requires medicine during the day, you must be present to administer the medication.  Camp administrators and staff will not be responsible for administering medication to campers under any circumstances.  If your camper is caught taking any kind of medication, you will be contacted immediately to pick up you camper as he/she will be dismissed from the camp.  Exceptions to the policy may be made on a case-by-case basis.  If you desire an exception, please contact Ann Romeo (annromeo@gmail.com).

Bridge for Youth hopes to make this a memorable and rewarding experience for all participants.  Early registration is encouraged as space is limited. Questions regarding the Seattle Bridge Day Camp should be directed to Ann Romeo (annromeo@gmail.com).
